What a Missouri ALF or RCF license means
In Missouri, long-term care facilities are licensed by the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), Section for Long-Term Care Regulation. Under state law an assisted living facility provides 24-hour care and protective oversight, with help in daily activities, medication management and health supervision, to three or more residents; a residential care facility provides 24-hour care, shelter, board and protective oversight. A license shows the facility is registered with the state; it does not rate care quality or price. Ask for the rate sheet and the admission agreement.
Read the state record before you visit. Look up the license number above in the DHSS long-term care directory, ask the facility for its latest inspection results and rate sheet, and ask what care needs would require a move.
