Missouri Assisted LivingIndex

How we verify

Missouri Assisted Living & Residential Care Index is compiled from public records, not from who paid to be listed.

Sources

We read the DHSS LTC DIRECTORY on data.mo.gov and keep facilities listed as assisted living (ALF) or residential care (RCF). Nursing homes (SNF) and intermediate care facilities are not included. Rows with a license expiration date before the day we load the data are left out, not described.

Capacity is the licensed maximum, not the number of residents. The directory marks some types with asterisks (for example RCF* and ALF**); we show the code as given and do not interpret it. A facility is shown with an Alzheimer's special care unit only when the directory flags one.

We do not publish inspection or complaint data; ask the facility for its inspection results and ask DHSS how to see them. We show administrator names from the directory but never email addresses.

Order within a city: licensed capacity, largest first, then alphabetical. Featured listings appear in a separate, labelled box and never change that order.

What a badge means

Licensed (DHSS): the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services LTC directory lists the facility with a license that has not expired. The badge means the license is listed; it is not a quality rating. We only publish positive matches. A listing without a badge is not an accusation — most gaps are name variations between registries.

Freshness

Data was last refreshed on 2026-10-02. DHSS updates its directory regularly; we re-load it regularly.
